JIM’S STORY

Starting Weight: 400 lbs

Current Weight: 217 lbs

Total lost: 192 lbs*

*In a CMWL multicenter randomized trial involving 550 patients who followed a CMWL Low-Calorie Diet (LCD) or Modified LCD Program, both with and without appetite suppressants, the average weight loss was 2 pounds per week over a 12-week period. The research was wholly funded by an independent third party with the exception of travel expenses. According to a study published in The American Journal of Medicine, participants completing a 12-week medical weight loss program lost 11.1% of their body weight, on average. Results may vary.

My weight loss journey started after I had my kneecap removed in 1972. I tried what now feels like hundreds of weight loss programs and diets – Medifast, Atkins, Nutrisystem…nothing ever worked.

After forty years of struggling I turned to my primary care physician Dr. Ross, who runs The Center for Medical Weight Loss Practice in Cookeville, Tennessee. She was very reassuring that the CMWL plan would help me lose the weight and keep it off for good.

After my initial consultation I started on a personalized weight loss plan Dr. Ross developed for me, incorporating mild exercise, meal replacements and behavioral counseling. Many of the other plans I tried offered meal replacement products, but not the moral and medical support critical to my success. I learned that overcoming food addiction is more complex than willpower alone. Secondary medical issues arise that can only be treated by a physician. The medical advice and support given by my doctor meant I never felt alone in my weight loss journey.

My biggest challenge was learning to consider food as fuel instead of an emotional supplement. Before CMWL, if I felt good I would eat, and if I felt bad I would eat. The behavioral counseling helped me break the connection between food and my emotions. I’ve also learned how to work out nutritional value and calories in restaurant foods and drinks – it’s been a big challenge, but it’s critical for maintaining long-term weight loss.

Since losing the weight my health has improved drastically. My orthopaedic surgeon told me that I needed knee replacement surgery, and losing weight was the only way my new knees would last. Now that I’ve slimmed down I’ll be able to have both knees replaced. I’ve also been taken off blood pressure medication and cholesterol medication, which is fantastic!

The biggest joy of all is seeing friends I have known for decades. They don’t even recognize me!  I can buy clothes anywhere, I can work, and my relationships are better. CMWL has completely changed my attitude. My outlook is very positive!

Jim ‘s Weight Loss Success Tips

Favorite CMWL Product:
Crispy Snacks

Top Tip to Stay Motivated:
Get out of the kitchen, grab your shake/nutrition bar, and go. When hunger strikes, brush your teeth if you can. It slows down the cravings. If you’re hungry, delay before you get your bar/shake. “Delaying tactics” work. Get a buddy to talk you through it.

What I Like Best About CMWL:
I have been under constant attack by people that do not understand the weight loss process. They think have a better way and they push it. CMWL lets me fight back with “I am following doctor’s orders.”
