05 Oct 5 WAYS TO START YOUR DAY ON WEIGHT LOSS TRACK
Your morning sets the tone for the remainder of the day, so it’s important to start it right! Small changes to your morning routine can make a big difference in the number on the scale. Follow my tips to start your day on weight loss track.
Set your alarm 15 minutes earlier. Guilty of hitting that snooze button one too many times? There is no worse feeling than being rushed and scrambling to find your shoes, wallet, and keys to get out the door. Although you may feel great about your record-breaking time to get ready, it adds additional stress. There is no need to start out your day feeling rushed, so set your alarm 15 minutes earlier. This will give you time to clear your mind and focus on your day ahead. You’ll likely find you feel more refreshed, calm, and sharp during the day.
Have a nutritious breakfast. If you are the type of person who feels hungrier for lunch when you eat breakfast, then just have a cup of coffee or tea for breakfast. For many, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Breakfast kick-starts your metabolism and helps curb cravings later in the day. Build your breakfast with a healthy mix of protein and dairy. Scrambled eggs with low-fat yogurt is an excellent pick that will hold you over until lunch.
Visualize. Think about your personal goals for the day. What do you want to accomplish? What steps will you take to help you reach your goal weight? Visualize yourself making healthy food choices, exercising, and anticipating how you will handle a potential situation that could derail your weight loss plan. Weight loss requires being mindful of your habits. Spending a few minutes in the morning visualizing how you can overcome bad habits that have held you back in the past can have a positive impact on your future.
Do something you enjoy. Your mental health and physical health are intertwined. If you know you have a grueling day at work ahead, do something that makes you happy first thing in the morning. Use some extra time to do a crossword puzzle, read the news, or spend time with family. These little things you do to improve your mental health will keep you in the right mindset to reach your weight loss goals.
Take a walk. If you’re naturally an early riser (or want to be), kick off your morning with a brisk 20-minute walk. It’s an excellent way to clear your head before you head to the office. Plus, you’ll feel accomplished knowing you got your workout out of the way! Your feel-good endorphins will be contagious.
